One day seminar ....need a get away?
Hello all, I'm in need of your thoughts today.
I'm thinking of hosting a one day seminar in late October.
The cost is $150 plus tax, for the following:
Topics to cover branding, strategic growth and building, HR and some legislation changes and what is currently in for passing as law. There will also be a small booklet filled with info in it and a couple of great speakers. Lunch and snacks will be provided and then a social after for those that want to stick around for this. Since this will be a little out of town, rooms will be available but limited for extra and should you book a room, you will receive a coupon for dinner discounted and a contential breakfast in the morning, if you book more then one night it is reduced again and dinner again discounted and 2 free contential breakfasts are included.
We are also offering transportation for those booking for 2 nights for free limited space is available .
Looks like rooms will be about $100per night plus taxes this can be shared if companies are wanting to do that as well.
Space for the seminar is limited and only 50 tickets are available maybe 60.
The more that book the cheaper for everything.
So, what do you think?

Government Blitz, are you ready.....
There is a blitz happening with regard to Safe at Work Ontario, are you ready for this? a lot of businesses thought they were ready and they were not. There fines thousands of dollars and in some cases they were shut down. This is not a laughing matter unless you have millions and billions to give the government. If you are i the following sectors you are EXTREMELY at risk RIGHT NOW! Industrial, Construction, MINING and Health Care. You are a target right now and this is when it all starts to go down hill if you are not in compliance.
Here is an example..This is for Mining...
Between 2005 and 2009, 176 workers died and another 36 workers developed occupational diseases related to respiratory illnesses in the MINING SECTOR, according to claims information from the WSIB.
In October and November 2011, ministry inspectors conducted 61 visits to 36 underground mining and issued 207 orders under the OHSA, including 22 stop work orders to underground mines.
IS this something you really want on your mind with PDAC just around the corner?
Contact The Staff Room for further details at 888-716-7791, or info@the-staffroom.com

StatsCan revisions show
higher December jobs growth
Job losses less severe than
originally estimated

OTTAWA
(Reuters) - Canada's economy created 21,700 net new jobs in December, up from
the 17,500 previously reported, according to revised data released by
Statistics Canada.
StatsCan
revised estimates from its Labour Force Survey going back three years,
using the latest seasonal factors.
The
December unemployment rate was unchanged at 7.5 per cent, it said.
The job
losses in November and October now appear to be less severe than originally estimated.
The net job loss in November was 5,500 versus the 18,6000 StatsCan previously
reported but the unemployment rate was a notch higher at 7.5 per cent.
In
October the economy shed 52,700 positions rather than 54,000, according to the
new data, and the unemployment rate was 7.4 per cent versus the 7.3 per cent
previously reported.
From
December 2010 to December 2011, the economy created 190,000 net jobs, just 200
fewer than previously estimated.
The
economy recovered all the jobs lost during the recession in January 2011,
StatsCan said.

Call us BEFORE you get a fine....
We are focusing on the Bill 168 and OADA right now. These two amendments to the Disability Act and Occupational health and safety act. They have fines as low as $10,000 or 12 months in jail. These are not being taken lightly and the Canadian government is not taking these lightly.
Bullying has been effecting the work place for many many years and yet people are still under the thought that this is just a kid thing. You could not be any more wrong. This could be just about anything that makes a person feel uncomfortable or threatened and this will give them a higher absenteeism. The problem is that too many employers are not looking at these things and recognizing the reasons behind some of the changed behaviors.Employers must be educated in this so they can educate their employees and make sure there is a company policy in place to deal with this problem.
That is where we come in. We will come in and assess your work place, provide you with proper training to you and your staff, ensure that you have a proper policy and that it is also give to all employees to read, review and sign off on so that it may be placed i their employee files. This is only a SMALL PART of the process to ensure you are not going to to be held in a position where you are deemed non compliant.
